I saw this picture and just had to comment. It is a place - Sydney Harbour Bridge - that I have visited, but I have never seen it looking like this. The difference in the light in different parts of the scene - the dock in the foreground, not really in shadow but just under the sun, the fronts of the buildings on the quay, the light striking the bridge pillars - is just amazing. And the sky is so interesting - at the far end of the bridge, the sky shows the light of dawn, while elsewhere it is still the dark blue of almost-night. Just so, so beatiful.
The framing of the photograph is interesting, it is not as tight as most shots of the bridge, allowing a variety of other interesting shapes and surfaces to be included for the viewer look at.
The artist says that, in a moment, this will be a different place. I would say it would also have been an entirely different place moments before, one far less interesting and photogenic, attesting to the artist's patience, timing and eye for the moment.
I know little about photographic technique, so have rated 'technique' a neutral 2.5 - I'm not intending to give you a low mark
I found this a wonderful piece of art, not just a photo, and it makes me long to go back there.
I instructed Britslutjenny to find an artwork to Critique and she choose yours. I'm very pleased with her choice, and of her Critique. The photo is truly excellent, and the colors are just unbelievable!
I apologize if her Avatar offends your normal Watchers. I had assumed she would pick a story or artwork in a more deviant Deviance, but then, I didn't specify that and she found her way into Normal Space. This is good, as it will serve to teach me a lesson about giving instructions. And, I'm very happy that she brought this wonderful photo to my attention, as I would have otherwise never seen it.
